Our Team
Meet Our Team of In-House Design Professionals
Luke Stier – Owner
Luke’s journey began in high school shop class, where he first discovered his passion for woodworking and carpentry. He honed his skills through RCTC’s carpentry program and gained valuable experience with a local high-end home builder. Over the course of a decade, Luke immersed himself in the remodeling industry under the mentorship of master carpenters. In 2010, he was inspired by these experiences to found Stier Construction, now known as Stier Design Build, hoping to bring a fresh perspective to the remodeling industry in the Greater Rochester Area.
Luke’s favorite part of remodeling reflects his deep passion for the field: “I thrive on the challenge of turning something old or outdated into something extraordinary. Seeing a client’s vision come to life and witnessing the transformation from start to finish is incredibly fulfilling.”
When he’s not at work, Luke cherishes time with his family and friends, and loves cheering on his daughters at their sporting events. He stays busy with various projects around their farm and is actually in the process of remodeling his own home!

More About Tracey
“I’ve always known that space matters. Creating warm, functional, inviting spaces brings me immense joy! You’ve got to FEEL something when you walk into the room. When I see that huge smile on my client’s face at the end of the project- that to me, is pure gold!”
Tracey’s approach blends modern elegance with timeless charm, revitalizing spaces through creative reinvention. She’s known for her personal touch and her natural ability to connect with her clients and design for their lifestyle. Tracey excels in reimagining spaces and crafting unique environments such as kitchens, baths, bunk rooms, offices, wine bars, and butler’s pantries. She’s not afraid to dive into the dark and moody arena when the client is looking for some drama, and welcomes each challenge with open arms!
Outside of work, Tracey can often be found tending to her lawn and perennial gardens, thrifting, or enjoying a good glass of wine in the sun with friends and family on their hobby farm.
Adam Ranney – Project Manager
With more than 10 years in the residential construction industry, Adam brings hands-on trade experience and a strong understanding of both the building process and the client experience. He oversees the flow, quality, and communication behind every project at Stier Design Build.
More About Adam
Before joining Stier, Adam worked in remodeling sales, design, project management, and field labor, giving him a well-rounded perspective that helps keep projects organized and on track. He values open communication and believes remodeling doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. His goal is to make the process smooth, clear, and enjoyable for clients.
“Seeing the excitement at the end of a project never gets old,” he says. That transformation (and the relationships built along the way) are what motivate him.
If he’s not on a jobsite, he’s probably hunting, golfing, camping, or spending time at the lake. He loves being a husband and dad and says watching his boys grow into their own little “mini-me’s” is one of the best parts of life.
He’s known to slide well-timed movie quotes into conversations and insists pineapple belongs on pizza.
Kaylie Doherty – Design Assistant
Kaylie brings fresh perspective, strong technical skill, and serious organizational power to the Stier Design Build team. She graduated from Alexandria Technical and Community College with an AAS Degree in Interior Design, where she built a strong foundation in drafting, specifications, and material selections. Now she puts those skills to work supporting projects.
More About Kaylie
When asked what inspires her love for design, she says, “I love showing clients they don’t have to leave their home to love it again. Watching an outdated space transform into something beautiful and functional is what makes the fast pace worth it.”
At Stier, Kaylie is the behind-the-scenes engine that keeps design moving, creating drawings, developing plans, connecting with vendors, and jumping in wherever the designers need her.
When she’s not at work, she feels most at home outdoors. She loves traveling, hiking, running, skiing, and being out on the water with family and friends.
Ethan Hanken –
Carpenter
Ethan started out doing carpentry as a hobby for friends and family and quickly realized he wanted to turn this hobby into a full-time career, leading him to join the team at Stier Design Build. With over 10 years in the industry and 4 years with us, Ethan brings a wealth of experience and dedication to every project.
More About Ethan
When asked about his favorite part of the remodeling process, Ethan says “I love watching the outdated space we start with on demo day transform into something amazing. Being part of that transformation is incredibly rewarding.” He is a kind-hearted and hard-working professional, and he will be diligently involved in the construction phase. You will see Ethan on your job site most days, ensuring everything progresses according to schedule and every detail exceeds your expectations.
When he’s not at work, you’ll find Ethan enjoying quality time with his wife of 10 years and their three daughters and son, in his woodshop working on his latest project, playing with his dogs, or out on the water fishing. Ethan is also a dedicated volunteer firefighter and first responder, always ready to lend a helping hand to his community.

With years of hands-on experience in everything from framing to project management, he approaches his work with the full picture in mind while still focusing on the details that matter most. He is known to think three steps ahead and takes pride in building homes that families will enjoy for years to come.
When he’s not building beautiful spaces, Michael frequently returns home to help on his family’s farm, especially during calving season. He enjoys hunting, fishing, chef-ing up something creative in the kitchen, and making the most of a good boat day when Minnesota weather cooperates.
